For years, my brother James would spend family meals trying to persuade me to come work for Hilton. My background was in management consulting and I spent the first six years of my career working long hours in a competitive environment.
Eventually, my brother proved me right. I was hired as a People Analytics Manager at Hilton’s global headquarters right outside Washington D.C. My team and I help make Hilton the best place to work. This job was the perfect fit to put my data and analytic skills to work.
One thing my brother always told me about Hilton was that it felt like a family. A positive work culture was a primary reason why I wanted to work for Hilton in the first place, and now I get to contribute to improving our culture every day in my role.
My team works to take Team Member feedback and quantify it in a way that leaders can activate on and implement improvements for employees. The work we do is directly impactful to Team Members around the world. The most rewarding part of my job is witnessing leadership decisions that I know are a direct result of the data we have analyzed. Watching our leaders make positive improvements to our company makes coming to work very worthwhile- I know I’m not only impacting our company, but I’m impacting fellow Team Members’ lives.
Our team has helped influence positive programs such as Thrive@Hilton, which was a result of employees desiring a more holistic and aligned workplace and life. We also influenced the Heart of House initiative, which improved everything from the food Team Members eat on break to allowing flexible work schedules. We want to ensure Team Members are taken care of at work and we’ve received great feedback on these initiatives.
Another favorite benefit of Hilton Team Members is Go Hilton. This is my personal favorite benefit! The program allows Team Member discounts at Hilton properties around the world. This last year, I traveled to 11 weddings and 5 bachelor parties and used my Hilton benefits each time. But, my favorite place to travel is Fort Lauderdale. My brother and I take a family trip each year and stay at the Hilton property there.
I believe in the work we’re doing because I know first-hand that leaders are making decisions based on our recommendations. Due to these improvements, and our amazing Team Members that make Hilton great, Hilton continues to be recognized as a best place to work. Most recently we’ve been named a Great Place to Work in the following countries: Australia (#4) China (#6), Colombia (#12), India (#18), Italy (#2), Netherlands (#11), Peru (#3), Turkey (#2), United Arab Emirates (#7), United Kingdom (#6), Mexico (#4), Brazil (#17) and United States (#33). With each reward we receive, I’m motivated to continue making Hilton a great company to work for all.
